After implementing Salesforce at Attivio, an on-premise enterprise search company Andrew co-founded, Andrew quickly realized the native Salesforce search engine was not meeting the expectations of the Attivio users. After hearing the same from other Salesforce customers, Andrew started Kona to provide enterprise-level search for Salesforce.
KonaSearch is an AppExchange-certified app that finds and analyzes information in Salesforce and relevant data sources like SharePoint more accurately, securely, and easily than Salesforce itself. KonaSearch is the only search engine that searches every field on every object, and within every file, document, and article in Salesforce’s Sales, Service, Community, and App Cloud products, including Chatter. It can search through relationships and automatically resolves all of Salesforce’s permissioning models within the engine with each query, allowing for full result counts and true dynamic faceting.
Users can have multiple custom, contextually-aware search pages and tie the results to their workflows to facilitate better decision making and intelligent action. Search pages can be tied directly to a single record as a matching engine, for example, “find me the best candidates for this job order” or “the best responses to this service ticket”. The pages can be built by the client using the published Kona API, or by Kona or its partners. Connectors to other data sources are built by Kona on demand.
A user can install and run KonaSearch in minutes. The index is multi-tenanted by default in Kona’s own virtual private cloud in Amazon AWS, but customers can demand their own dedicated VPC index, or install Kona on premise behind their firewall. KonaSearch has passed 2 InfoSec audits.
